Design-a-Pet Judging Update!

The Amazing World Newz Design-a-Pet contest closed recently and now the Amazing World artists are eagerly looking over every submission we received! Amazing World Newz recently sat down with Victor, the lead artist for Amazing World, to ask him for an update on the judging.

Q: We know you’re still sorting through all of the design-a-pet entries, but what have been your first impressions so far?

A: Well so many of the entries are extremely creative! A lot of our fans really seem to like the idea of combining different animals to make a pet. I’ve seen a lot of really cool ideas.

Q: What are some of the things you look for when you’re trying to pick a winner?

A: Probably the most important thing we look for is style. We need to make sure that any new pet we choose for the game fits in with everything else in Amazing World. When it comes to choosing a pet we also have to make sure we don’t choose anything too big because this pet will be flying above the shoulder of a Zing. Since the pets are small we also need to keep them fairly simple.

Q: Could you tell us a bit more about what the “Amazing World” art style is? A: Well when we’re designing for Amazing World we use mostly simple round shapes. As an example, our fans may have noticed that most of the creatures in Amazing World are round and fluffy. Another example of our style is that the Zings usually have short legs and arms. Stripes and polka dots are also very popular in Amazing World!

Q: Our fans seem to have drawn inspiration from all sorts of places for their entries. When you design a pet, what inspires you?

A: Well what’s unique about pets in Amazing World is that unlike the Zings, they aren’t based on real animals. The pets have almost a mythical or cartoony style so I always try to keep that in mind when I’m drawing a new pet. I also want my pets to be funny and whimsical!

Q: So last question… how much longer will we be kept in suspense? When will the winner be announced!?

A: I wish I knew for sure! Hopefully soon! It’s taking us a very long time to choose a winner because there are so many excellent ideas. We can tell that the fans put a lot of effort into their submissions so we need to make sure we take the time to judge each one fairly. Stay tuned!
